Hi, Sorry about this, this is a compatibility for 2.7+, I forgot to check it with older version.
I’ll make a change in 5 mins to fix this.

      Thank you for reporting.

      Have a nice day!

    Hi
I tried to install your plug-in through the installer. It installed, but when I tried to activate it or go anywhere in my dashboard I got an Error. I ended up having to go delete the plug in files via my FTP program. Any idea why this would happen?

    • CA RO 11/05/2009 at 17:26 #

      what kind of error?

  3. Ahmet Celik 11/05/2009 at 19:45 #

hi I enabled your plug in in my wordpress and now I can only see a pure white screen neither I can access the Wp-admin nor my web site. What must I do ??

    • CA RO 12/05/2009 at 01:33 #

It’s really weird, I tested on 2.3 to 2.8-beta, and everything seems to be ok with me. You can rename the folder wpvn-username-changer to wpvn-username-changer.bak to disable this plugin
You can try to run it alone, without any other plugins, but I don’t think this would help.

This site has it enabled as well :(

I can’t give any meaning that, so I have deleted in ftp in the plugins file. And my site is working very well right now. I use 2.7.1 actually, and also I have set up the plugin wtih wp-admin dashboard. Do you have any idea what can cause this problem??

    • CA RO 15/05/2009 at 13:57 #

No idea, I tested on 2.3 through 2.7 (major releases) and things work fine
I don’t see how this plugin could blank out front-end and back-end :-s

I’m getting the following eror when trying to change a username:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function _x() in ….plugins/wpvn-username-changer/wpvn-username-changer.php on line 107

It works fine on my personal website, but when I try to install it on my work website, I get the above error message

    Hi,

Does your plugin check if a duplicate username exists?

    • CA RO 16/06/2009 at 01:23 #

      Hi,

There cannot be a duplication of username in WordPress, except if you manually modify your database.

  8. Ray 16/06/2009 at 19:21 #

    Hi Ca Ro,

So if I were to try to change my username to “admin”, what would your plugin do?

    • CA RO 16/06/2009 at 19:39 #

Ok, now I got you. If you change ‘admin’ to an existing username, the plugin will notify you that there is a user with that name already.

      like this

The entered username is used by another user, please choose a different one!

Hi Caro, great plugin man! Everything is OK, but I’ve tried to translate to PT-BR and L10N naming does not work to me. I’ve tried wpvn-pt_br, wpvn-pt-br, wpvn-ptbr, wpvn-pt, wpvn-br and nothing. Please help me! I will send the PT-BR translated file. Thank you!

    • Igor Oliveira Ferreira 21/10/2009 at 19:40 #

Sorry guy, pt_BR standard is working OK. Sorry! I’m ashamed ;P well how can I send you the pt_BR .mo n .po?

    Hello Caro,

I just installed your plugin and it works perfectly with latest WP 2.8.5 but I discovered something which might get users a bit confused.

When the plugin is displayed it shows the following text :
This plugin lets you change user’s login username, especially useful if you need to change your admin username.
    AND LINK TO : http://www.domain.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=wpvn_username_changer

But if you click on this link, you get a white screen with the following text :
You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.
which is wrong as I’m logged as admin.

In fact it’s because the link is wrong. It should be this one :
    http://www.domain.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=wpvn-username-changer

Please notice carefully that the correct URL (look page=) has dashes NOT underscores.
This small mistake might make users confused.

I myself look for a while where to change the username as I was misleaded by this error screen.

Hope this helps ! and THANK YOU again for your plugin !!!

    Jamy

    Hello Caro,

The plugin works perfect for me but I have one question.
It seems that a username can only be changed once.
Is there any way I can go backward or reset the system to change it a second time.
I did not use it at all, no comment nothing but change my mind on the definite username…

THANK YOU for your help ! :-)

    Jamy

    Hi

I downloaded your plugin today. I have about 70 users which usernames I have to change.
The problem is, I can’t change their usernames except for my own?

I’m in dire need of a solution to help me change their usernames.

    Any help?

    Regards
    Reinhardt

    Hi!
    Your plugin is really great!
By the way can we override the username a second time?
    Thank you !
    Michael

    • CA RO 06/12/2009 at 16:52 #

You can override it as many times as you want

Have you had any time yet to look into the WPMU thing? Would be great.

    Hi CA RO,

Nice plugin – I just want to thank you for writing it and making it available first and foremost. I do also want to offer what might hopefully be a helpful bug report(possibly pilot error).

I am using your username changer along with a plugin called “Role manager.”

I have set it up so that users must have at least “subscriber” level to change username – so basically anyone should be able to do it. Contributors can do it, but I have a lever through role manager called “student author” that’s higher in number than both subscribers and contributors, but student authors do not have access to the name changer.

The wierd thing is, “change username” shows up in the capability manager for that user level in the role manager.

Here’s a link to role manager’s site just in case: http://www.im-web-gefunden.de/wordpress-plugins/role-manager/

    Thank you, and great plugin!

    Mark
