It’s now October 1998. We just got back from the 3rd CIFS conference
in SanJose. The Samba Team was the biggest contingent there.

Samba 2.0 should be shipping in the next few weeks with much better
domain controller support, GUI configuration, a new user space SMB
filesystem and lots of other neat stuff. I’ve also noticed that a
search of job ads in DejaNews turned up 3900 that mention Samba. Looks
like we’ve created a small industry.

I’ve been asked again where the name Samba came from. I might as well
put it down here for everyone to read. The code in Samba was first
called just “server”, it then got renamed “smbserver” when I
discovered that the protocol is called SMB. Then in April 1994 I got
an email from Syntax, the makers of “TotalNet advanced Server”, a
commercial SMB server. They told me that they had a trademark on the
name SMBserver and I would have to change the name. I ran an egrep for
words containing S, M, and B on /usr/dict/words and the name Samba
looked like the best choice. Strangely enough when I repeat that now I
notice that Samba isn’t in /usr/dict/words on my system anymore!

As he did not mention the command he ran to get this word out of the built-in dictionary, I tried some regex and got this one which is most likely the command:

It’s a bit late now, so I just head into the main point why I am writing this post I wanted to change the default port to 80 on my Mac, ok, it’s a piece of cake, try /ZendServer /usr/local/zend/apache2/conf/httpd.conf (I like the file structure of Zend Server, it’s way more familiar than other stuffs I cited above). After changing the Apache conf, I cannot make Zend AdminInterface (run on lighttpd) work with the Apache on new port, and I searched for a while and Eureka! found the config file here: /ZendServer/gui/application/data/zwas.ini /usr/local/zend/gui/application/data/zend-server.ini (Since 4.0.1)

Last thing, you need to make an alias of /ZendServer/apache2/htdocs/ZendServer /usr/local/zend/apache2/htdocs in the new DocumentRoot to make sure that Apache can start correctly. (it’s actually an alias of /ZendServer /usr/local/zend/gui/UserServer as in the ini file it says.)

To Linux Users: If you have already have a running apache, when you install ZendServer, it will use your current apache server and things work just as smooth as it should be after a 3 minutes and 5 command lines installation (tested on Ubuntu 8.10, the server which hosts this blog)

• Application Configuration Part

In IE or in Firefox (preferrable to configure with IE, because some other apps use the conf of IE), set Socks: localhost and the port is the port you set for the tunnel, in the photo on the right.

In Yahoo! Messenger as well as other apps such as µtorrent, you choose Socks 5 as proxy and localhost:<tunnel-entrance port>

This would help the main script work normally with failure in request for ads.

The precedent code, there was no function for 2 servers, and there was even no time-out for the script execution this led to the fatal error “Execution Time” and the main script could not work either.

2 hours for a new method but the server is still so unstable now.
